Aki opened its doors in Brunswick in 2010, quickly becoming a local favorite for our delicious sushi and exciting hibachi experiences. Over the years, we've enjoyed serving countless guests and creating lasting memories.
In the summer of 2023, we closed our Brunswick location, but we're excited to announce a new chapter in our journey. We're reopening at a new location in Freeport, Maine, bringing the same passion and dedication from our family to yours.
Our new restaurant continues to offer the sushi you love, and we have expanded our menu to include small plates inspired by our family's recipes, blending authentic Japanese flavors with other international influences. Plus, we have introduced a boba bar, adding a fun and refreshing twist to your dining experience!

Our Story
Aki Japanese Fusion is the heart of our family’s journey.
We arrived in the U.S. as refugees in the 1980s, leaving Vietnam in search of a new beginning. Maine was the first place we called home, a place of natural beauty and safety. Though we spent time in Massachusetts, Maine’s pull brought us back, where we’ve been fortunate to build our lives and raise our family.
For us, food is more than nourishment—it’s how we share our story. Aki reflects who we are: comforting yet vibrant, rooted in tradition yet unique. Every dish is made with love, blending our heritage and family recipes with fresh, local ingredients to create something truly special.
